About the Blast Injury Institute
The Blast Injury Institute (BII) seeks to provide leadership in the area of brain injury caused by exposure to blasts. Through basic science, applied research, multidisciplinary collaboration, conferences and events, the BII provides a fact-based perspective on innovative approaches to help organizations, public entities and the media address the challenges presented by the growing issue of brain injury caused by blasts.
BII is an initiative of the North American Brain Injury Society. a multidisciplinary organization of professionals who provide services to persons with brain injury and their families. Established in June 2003, the principal mission of NABIS is to move brain injury science into practice. The BII was created by the NABIS leadership to focus specifically on needs of professionals working with the men and women of the US Armed Forces injured by blast.
